Inspiration: Navy Blue is the New Black

More and more I see "navy blue" being used in place of black which, in my opinion, creates a softer more romantic look as well as being chic and stylish and classic. I've seen it offset with pink, orange, yellow, green, and white. If you're looking for a way to have your wedding colors stand out and still be classic and elegant, this is the way to go.

I love this inspiration board from the Wedding Chicks.
Here's a modern take on a beach inspired wedding using coral in an orange shade to compliment the navy blue. Love this sample from Kenzie Kate.

This is a photo of one of my beautiful brides, Rachael, who got married in Ojai and had the color scheme of white, green, and navy blue. The maids look just stunning in their navy blue gowns. This photo was taken by the talented Heather Jagger of Jagger Photography.
I was first introduced to JL Designs at a wedding last August at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch and the flowers were STUNNING. This "baroque" design as seen in Bride and Bloom Magazine was done by the ever talented Carissa, owner of JL Designs and again uses the navy blue which compliments the warm colors of the peach and gold with the stark white and I think looks just fabulous.

Here's a photo from the wedding that I met Carissa of JL Designs last year. I love my bride, Nicole, owner of Nicolita Swimwear who is extremely talented and not to mention gorgeous and who designed her own dress and those of her bridesmaids who are in navy blue and the fuscia boquets just pop for that WOW factor. And you may recognized the second maid on the left who is the bride you saw in the photo earlier in this post. Referrals are fantastic!!! This photo was taken by my FAVORITE PHOTOGRAPHER who is sweet, and beautiful, and funny, and extremely talented, the lovely Jasmine Star.
Here's another fabulous wedding from Carissa of JL Designs, photographed by Sweet Monday Photography, which was just featured on Style Me Pretty, a great bridal blog.

Inspiration: One Tree Hill

Well, they haven't walked down the aisle yet, and with Lucas' track record...we'll have to wait and see. But I'm hopeful because I think Peyton is the right choice for Lucas. After watching tonight's episode, Peyton mentioned that she wanted a rocker glam retro style wedding, which I can totally find inspiration for. So enjoy!

I forsee the wedding being at a chic but industrial location like The Fermenting Cellar in Canada.
Very chic, very romantic, and very rockstar is a bouquet of all large white calla lilies.
Here's another amazing location called The Distillery District, also in Canada.
This is a chic and modern dress by Santa Monica based designer Hanna Hartnell.

The same design in a platinum/silver color.

A traditional veil just wouldn't work for this rocker chic wedding, but an amazing floral and beaded headpiece would be fantastic. Here's one by Butterfly Enchantress Designs. Sparklers just bring a nostalgic and romantic ambiance. This photo was taken by amazing photograher, Jessica Claire.
It's not quite, Clothes Over Bros', but I think Haley & Brooke would look stunning in this Two Birds Design which comes in an array of colors and can be worn/wrapped in 10 different ways, so for the wedding it can be worn one way, and for a night out it can be worn completely different.
Here is the array of colors for the Two Birds dress. Wow.
Talk about glam rock. Here's an amazing modern yet romantic glam rock chandelier, which I could see hanging from the ceiling at the reception.
This was a wedding designed by one of my favorite floral designers, R Jack Balthazar and this wedding was actually done one the top of a building in downtown L.A. I also love the less formal feel of the banquettes instead of everyone in seperate chairs.
Another amazing wedding designed by R Jack Balthazar, with a vintage glam weddding and lots and lots of candles and rose petals, how gorgeous.

Here's an amazing black and white Great Gatsby Chic inspiration board designed by Katheryn at Snippet and Ink, one of the blog's I frequent almost every day.

This is a sample of a vintage, rock n' roll, black & white bridal bouquet. How fantastic. Here is an amazing pink and black Rocker Chic wedding inspiration board by none other than Snippet & Ink.
Here's a Vintage Hollywood Glam, red, black, and red inspiration board from Snippet & Ink.
Talk about glamorous, I love that crystal tree,
Chic and romantic bouquet for the bridesmaids perhaps, with red roses and deep purple calla lilies.
When searching on google, this inspiration board kept popping up when searching under "glam rock".

Here's a fun and unique twist on the ever popular photo booth setup they do so often at weddings. To keep costs down, you could hand a bead sheet and have disposable cameras and a frame letting people know what's going on and then developing the camera and getting a CD of the images to email to all of your guests. How Fun!!!
This wedding wouldn't be the type to have a formal sit down dinner, so my thought is to have lots of comfort food served in a chic, chic way. Here's grilled cheese and tomato soup served in shot glasses. One such Los Angeles catering company is called Bite Catering.
From Bite Catering, Bite Size Hamburgers.
We can't forget the french fries to go with the burgers.

Wow, Wow, Wow, what an amazing cake. Talk about rock glam. I love the black crystals and the black bow trailing down the cake. Looks good enough to eat.
Here's another black and white option without the bling, but with more of a romantic floral pattern. Here's a modern option for a groms cake found on The Knot. What guy doesn't like chocolate.

Will You: Engagement Shoot

This couple, Nicole and Phil, will have the most elaborate and breathtaking wedding I've ever done, and as the bride says, "It will be full of surprises". She's Cuban and he's Italian. She's a fashion designer and he's a financial planner. They met in college at USC and are about to be joined as husband and wife at the beautiful Mission San Fernando with a cocktail hour, dinner, and dance party reception at the secluded Hummingbird Nest Ranch, right in Simi Valley. I didn't even know this treasure existed, hiding in the hills. It's a sight to see and I can't wait to show you photos of the big day. In the time being, enjoy some of the engagement photos by Jasmine Star who I can't wait to meet and work with.
A few things to look forward to at this wedding other than the beautiful fuschia flowers and hundreds of candles are the food, the signature cocktails, the photo booth, the cigar roller, the mojito bar, the Rock Star bar (a client of the bride), and the live salsa band plus DJ. It will be spectacular.
